CDC Global Services to Implement its Catalyst XPS Solution at SCI Group, a Leading Provider of Supply Chain Solutions in Canada
PHILADELPHIA,
December 10, 2009—CDC Global Services, a business unit of CDC Corporation, announced today that its Catalyst SAP® services business will implement Catalyst XPS, its native SAP® cross-carrier packaging and shipping product, at SCI Group Inc, a leading provider of high value-add supply chain solutions to the Canadian marketplace.
SCI has experienced rapid growth with their client base who have varied business and operational requirements, including 24x7 shipping capabilities. The company was looking for a solution that would reduce operating costs and improve functionality for its small parcel shipping operations. Catalyst XPS is expected to provide these capabilities, as well as the ability to perform rate shopping that helps ensure better cost control.
Catalyst XPS can enable SCI to manage their small parcel carrier packing and shipping activities within their core operating companies that include: SCI Logistics, Progistix and First Team Transport. Catalyst XPS will be fully integrated with SCI's native SAP architecture, eliminating the need for middleware. The solution utilizes the standard tools within the SAP framework and integrates with ConnectShip™, a multi-carrier rating engine. This provides SCI with a centralized point of access across the supply chain with complete integration to many of the leading global small parcel carriers, including Canada Post, FedEx, UPS, Purolator, and DHL, among others. With Catalyst XPS, SCI will have complete visibility of each order, Track/Trace capabilities, along with accurate, and real-time updates between the SAP system and the carriers.
"After an extensive review process, we selected Catalyst XPS primarily because the product met all of our functional requirements--and all within a native SAP architecture," said Ann Nelson, vice president and CIO, SCI Group. "This solution allows us to leverage our existing SAP investment, while enabling us to be cost competitive and better serve our customers. We anticipate a successful partnership with Catalyst as we embark on a multi-site implementation that is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2010."
"We are excited about delivering the benefits of the Catalyst XPS solution to SCI and providing them with a tool that will help them better manage their small parcel shipping costs and streamline critical shipping processes," said Jim Ferencik, vice president, CDC Global Services.
